Posting here indicates your interest in helping out for a particular event, it does not guarantee participation. Of course, at your discretion, you could turn up at the event and help out. Do keep in mind, however, that too many cooks spoil the broth, and often times that 'helping hand' you are so keen to offer can get in the way of any and possibly every plan the event IC has.
Do note that if you are not on the crew list for that event, your participation will not be recorded unless you happen to do something extraordinary, such as saving the system from falling into the reservoir with a toothpick. Therefore, if all you are after is nothing more than SEAL points, do not bother turning up at shows in which you are not involved.
Should you decide to turn up at any shows at which you are not expected, please do not get in the way of proceedings. Ask before you attempt to help. While you may think you are helping by patching the speakers up while someone else is setting up the system, it could mean that someone else has to collect the cable, and lay it along another path to avoid human traffic.
Also keep in mind that asking too much can get annoying. It would seem that there is no way around this dilemma, but a little bit of common sense will get you appreciated. Actually, a lack of common sense might get you appreciated as well, but in a totally different situation.
Also, please do not crowd the system. While you may want to be the cool person manning the system, nobody likes having someone else's sticky, sweaty body rubbing against themselves. Unless you are both naked. Then don't get caught. (Or do, if you are into that kind of thing.)
Production Crew is a great way to meet new people, have fun, and get in trouble. Though you feel you may not be doing as many shows as you may like, do remember that your interest will be duly noted.
EDIT: Standard attire is as follows: (extremely) dark (preferably black) top (with at least short sleeves) and covered shoes. If we can see your feet, its NOT covered. For indoor shows: dark (long) leggings (e.g. jeans/slacks). For outdoor shows, berms or 3/4s are alright. Skirts, while nice to look at (and well ventilated), are not practical. Socks and underwear optional.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE at least give us some kind of clue as to who you are when you indicate interest in shows. Notice the common sense part above.
P.S. Bring on the grammatical scrutiny. Idiots.
